Stamped Concrete Process

  1. Sika Integral Color: Color bags are mixed on-site in the concrete truck.
  2. Pour the concrete fast, as the color added accelerates the chemical process and the concrete gets harder and harder.

3. Sika Antiquing Release Powder: Prevents the stamps from sticking and darkens the cracks and crevasses. (darker textures in picture)

4. Stamp Patterns: are pressed into the powder and the pattern and color will cast into the concrete. Stamping will combine release release color with integral color to for a weathered, antique look.

5. Relief cuts are saw-cut into the concrete to release pressure and hide cracks.

6. Pressure washed

 7. Thick Acrylic Sealer brings out true color in the concrete. Protects from stains, weather, and darkens color.

Elevate your space

This project in Buffalo Grove required a retaining wall due to the slope in the backyard. Due to the complex nature of the project, a 3D Design was perfect for this application. This helped with the construction, permit, and inspection processes.

This client narrowed down the shape, layout, height, colors, and materials all before breaking ground.

Water is the number one enemy for concrete. Water can cause uneven settling and erode the gravel base; thus forming cracks. Proper drainage pipe is used to slope water away from the house and keep water from pooling.

Freeze-thaw water cycles in the winter can also damage concrete. Water penetrates the concrete, freezes, then pops the surface. We use a thick acrylic sealer to protect the concrete from water and salt.

These extra steps and materials are used to ensure a superior product overall compared to regular concrete. Versatility and Durability make decorative concrete a top-seller.
